- The Plate Bearing Test is essentially a model test of foundations. It gives the load deformation characteristics for determining the ultimate bearing capacity of foundations.
- This test is a standard technique for determining bearing capacity of soils and the results of other methods are compared and calibrated with the values obtained from the plate bearing test.
- In this method, a steel plate is subjected to a gradual increment of load and the corresponding settlement is noted. The ultimate bearing capacity is taken as the load at which the settlement increases at a rapid rate.
The apparatus consists of:-
- 1. Hydraulic Jack 500 KN (50,000 kgf) supplied complete with hand operated pumping unit having 150mmdia. Pressure gauge and one 3 meter long rubber hose pipe
- 2. Ball and Socket assembly 1set.
- 3. Set of M.S plate
- a. 600mm dia. X 25mm 1 No
- b. 450mm dia. X 25mm 1 No
- c. 300mm dia. X 25mm 1 No
- 4. “L” Bracket for dial Gauge 4 Nos.
- 5. Bridge Support (Datum Bar) of welded steel angle 5 meter span for positioning and fitting of the dial gauges 2 Nos.
- 6. Column 16cm dia. X 25cm long with flanges complete with four bolts and nuts and 2 pc
- 7. Column 16cm dia. X 50cm long with flanges complete with four bolts and nuts and 1pc
- 8. Digital dial gauge of 0.001 mm X 12.7mm travel (4 Nos.)
- 9 Magnetic Block 4 Nos.
- 10 Extension Rod for Dial Gauge 16 Nos.
